The Forum Carlsbad – Best Shopping in San Diego

Great Food and Shopping at The Forum Carlsbad

“Whoever said money can’t buy happiness simply didn’t know where to go shopping.” -Bo Derek

The Forum Carlsbad

The Forum Carlsbad is a group of shops located at 1923 Calle Barcelona in Carlsbad California. Several boutiques and delicious restaurants are open to shoppers coming here to The Forum for a unique experience. Everyone from children to adults has a great time shopping at this location and it is a well known hot spot for locals as well. Hairstylists, make up artists and restaurants with great service intermingle among the shopping venues. (Check out the full list of stores here!)

From Rancho Santa Fe it is only about a 20 to 25 minute drive. Driving from anywhere in Carlsbad or Encinitas it’s an even quicker drive, lasting about five to ten minutes! One of my favorite things about The Forum Carlsbad is the parking lot. The mall is an outdoor strip mall and the parking lot is very big so all of the stores have plenty of parking in front of them. There isn’t the widest variety of stores, but there are enough to provide different aspects of shopping. From clothes and toys, to home goods and delectable food, you can find almost anything you’re looking for when visiting The Forum.

For teens, boys and girls, stop in Urban Outfitters and Tillys for the latest trends. For athletic gear, your one-stop shop is Lululemon. From workout pants, shorts, spandex, sports bras, shirts, tanks, jackets, head bands, even underwear, Lululemon has it all, for both genders.

I don’t personally work out enough to shop for work out clothes every time I’m at the mall, so I like to go to stores that have comfortable yet cool clothes. Some of my favorites are Tre, Anthropologie and Nicole Miller. These are my top 3 stores to look in for a sophisticated and creative outfit that will last all day and night at work and at home. I call this the “San Diego” look.

I also like to go to White House Black Market to check for deals and clearance items from time to time. Another fun store in The Forum is called Sur La Table. It has everything you would ever need in the kitchen, and also offers cooking and baking classes for kids and adults.

There is a small fish pond that runs through the middle of a few stores (right outside of WHBM) and is surrounded by an amazing landscape! My son always loves to stop and watch the fish. They are the biggest fish I’ve ever seen!

Even the fish at Balboa Park aren’t as big as the fish here. People must be feeding them leftover lunch scraps!! We usually head into Geppettos after visiting the fish, to continue to keep my son a bit entertained by all of the fun toys (and so I can squeeze in a little more shopping!) The Wine Loft is right across the street if you aren’t shopping with kids and want to enjoy a tasting.

For underneath all of my cute new outfits, I normally head over to Victoria’s Secret where you can find general undergarments, sexy lingerie, and great smelling perfumes and makeup. There is a Mac makeup boutique if you are looking for anything Mac-specific.

There is also an Ulta which is a combination of high class and drugstore makeup and beauty products. Ulta has other cosmetic brands for anyone looking for something besides strictly Mac products. After I get my beauty fix I usually get hungry my mind starts to work out a decision between all of the great places to eat at The Forum. My family likes to eat at Which Wich, but Panera Bread is right next door. Sometimes we have to have a family vote to decide. Panera Bread has amazing soups and homestyle meals and Which Wich has incredible sandwiches; both are worth stopping into if you haven’t yet. (Read our full article on Which Wich here.)

Three stores I haven’t visited yet are Francesca’s, (cute gifts and little party favors from what I see in the window) Free People, (known to have higher prices on their boho clothing) and the Apple Store. (hoping I don’t need to wait in those crazy lines anytime soon!)

Next time you’re looking for a good mall that has plenty of stores with variety and a parking lot where you don’t have to spend an hour trying to park, I recommend heading down to The Form Carlsbad to see what they have in store for you. A lot of times you can find the best deals without having to drive to Fashion Valley or UTC in La Jolla.
