Interview with Talia Dahms from Indigo Dragon Center
“The greatest mistake in the treatment of diseases is that there are physicians for the body and physicians for the soul, although the two cannot be separated.” – Plato
Indigo Dragon Center, located at 451 La Veta Ave, Encinitas, CA 92024, is a tranquil place to get massage therapy, acupuncture, or another wonderful treatment. I caught up with Talia Dahms and got to talk with her about Indigo Dragon. In our interview, she explains what acupuncture is, (basic explanation here) and how it benefits the mind and body. She explains many of the treatments that are available at Indigo Dragon, including yoga, chiropractic, and how often you should come for sessions. I had many questions about pain during acupuncture, but Talia did a great job describing the experience you receive when coming to Indigo Dragon.
Talia initially became interested in acupuncture in high school and college. She went to school for four years to receive her masters degree and has taken an exam to become a licensed acupuncturist. She now sees many clients for pain, digestive issues, insomnia, or other ailments. Some people come to just stay healthy and maintain their results. Many clients start with a massage or chiropractic session before acupuncture so that their body is the most relaxed and ready for treatment.
At Indigo Dragon, four different acupuncturists are on site working with clients on a variety of issues, so it is a convenient place to book a day of wellness. Indigo Dragon also takes insurance! Acupuncture cost is about the same as chiropractic services, and most insurances do cover acupuncture. Talia is also an herbalist, and she provides tablets and raw herbs to clients to help issues within the body as well.
Yoga classes are also available on the outdoor patio of Indigo Dragon, and are currently $12/class. You can drop-in on Saturday mornings at 8:00am to see what their yoga is all about.
Indigo Dragon Center is located right behind Pannikin Coffee House, so if you’re in Encinitas and you’d like to try it out, make sure to stop by Indigo Dragon Center and tell Talia we sent you!
