San Diegans love summertime, outdoor movies and cult-classics, and the ultimate film experience Rooftop Cinema Club delivers on all three fronts with a July-August lineup loaded with great titles. As the season of celebration continues there are plenty of big-screen anniversaries, women in film nights and a healthy dose of musicals to keep the party going.

 

Top titles among the newest releases include the Patrick SwayzeJennifer Grey classic Dirty Dancing (Friday, July 13); 2017 Academy Award-winning Best Motion Picture Moonlight (Saturday, July 14); Marvel Comics thriller The Black Panther (Tuesday, July 17); teen cult-classic The Breakfast Club (Wednesday, July 25) followed by Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (Thursday July 26th) in the ultimate John Hughes weekender; Coming to America starring comedian Eddie Murphy and celebrating its 30-year anniversary (Friday, July 27); Top Gun featuring Tom Cruise and San Diego’s very own Naval Air Station Miramar and the infamous Top Gun Flight School (Saturday, July 28); DC Comics’ sequel to Batman, The Dark Knight (Wednesday, Aug. 1); the San Diego-based Will Ferrell classic,Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (Thursday, Aug. 2), and Pretty Woman, starring two of Hollywood’s all-time favorites, the ageless Richard Gere and Julia Roberts (Saturday, Aug. 4).

Those outstanding titles set the stage for an amazing week filled with musical classics in August, singing encouraged. John Travolta and Olivia Newton-Johnget the party started with Grease (Tuesday, Aug. 7), followed by the animated classic The Lion King (Wednesday, Aug. 8), 2017 Academy Award Best Motion Picture nominee, La La Land (Thursday, Aug. 9), Mamma Mia! starring Meryl Streep (Friday, Aug. 10), and the Hugh Jackman musical, which portrays the legendary life of P.T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman (Saturday, Aug. 11).

San Diego’s Rooftop Cinema Club is open to adults 18-and-over. Ticket prices start at just $17 per person for a single deck-chair beneath the stars. For $20, you can receive a single deck-chair along with bottomless popcorn, and for just $24 each, a couple can enjoy a film in the comfort of a double love-seat while also enjoying bottomless popcorn.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for all showings and the movies begin from around sunset, with start times varying.

 

And for fans who drive themselves to the Rooftop Cinema Club, you can self-park in Manchester Grand Hyatt’s parking garage and receive a free four-hour validation (self-parking only) with any food or beverage purchase on-site, including the Rooftop Concession Stand (excluding candy and popcorn).
