San Diego has so many fun winter events! From skating in Coronado to the many tree lighting ceremonies and Santa visits around town, there is always something going on! Although I do love doing fun things with my son that are kid-friendly, it leaves me wanting a bit of an adult aspect to the holidays.
Downtown San Diego has an attraction that is tailored to everyone in the family! It is a perfect way to spend the holidays in December, and it is called Holiday by the Bay. This winter wonderland is a large area right on the bay outside of the Hilton hotel full of games, crafts, toys and alcohol! Watch this clip just before we got to view it the moment it opened for the season!:
Hilton San Diego Bayfront’s newly re-imagined holiday tradition features Reindeer Run, an exhilarating two-story 100-foot ice tubing slide (which I did not try in a dress..); the Iceberg Bumpers ride (which I did try successfully in a dress!); plus Shine, an hourly interactive dynamic light show, which we were probably so distracted with Iceberg Bumpers to notice happening. We will most definitely have to go back! Here is my overview of the entire experience as I walked around:
Holiday by the Bay has so many great photo opportunities for you and your family! From a Nutcracker to Santa’s mailbox to a giant Nice list and a sleigh, the props to take photos with are creative and adorable!! And best part? No lines! Make sure you bring your camera!
Activities for Kids of All Ages
Celebrate the season with stocking decorating at Santa’s Workshop or cookie decorating at Claus Kitchen! Kids are welcome at both activities! There is also a ball pit for younger kids and lots of areas to sit down and watch your kids play while you relax and enjoy your hot cocoa!
Fun For Adults, Too!
The highlight of the experience for me was the festive craft cocktail flights at Yule Lodge. You can grab a cocktail in the lodge and walk around the entire fenced in grounds, watching your kids run from ride to ride with smiles on their faces! Gather your family for sweet and savory treats from Elven Eatery and Kringle Bakery or sip cocoa and toast s’mores at a private Fireside Lounge. (This costs extra, but is SO worth it!!)
This holiday experience is one not to miss this season! Learn more here on the Hilton website, and make sure to come down to enjoy it during December as is closes January 5th! You can buy tickets here. Prices are around $15-$20, and you can add on Fireside Lounge options on the ticket page! It is open from 5:00pm-11:00pm specific days in December and January. See the calendar on the ticket website!
