Since moving to San Diego, I have really started to realize how many people here focus on skin care. Maybe it’s because we are out in the sun all day long, or because it’s warm for so long that even at night we are out having fun. Whatever the case, I have been learning a lot about skin lately, especially from Ashley at Love to Live Spa in Del Mar. The other day I stopped in to learn more about their new HydraFacial and fell in love instantly! This little machine tucked in the back is very powerful, and there are only a few spas in San Diego that have it available!
HydraFacial is a 30 minute facial that has 3 simple steps: cleanse, extract, hydrate. It leaves your face feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. I tried it out and was so surprised by how soft my face felt afterward! In the first step, Ashley exfoliated my face using instruments that were customized to my skin, which felt like a rougher, almost pumice stone massage to me. It did not hurt, although I was pretty scared that it would. I finally started to relax and realize that this is not at all as intimidating as I thought it would be.
In the second step, she extracted all of the dead skin and bacteria from my skin, and at the same time, nourished my skin with intense moisturizers. I felt a little tiny tingle, but not really much. This step felt more like a mini suction cup squeezing my skin all over.
The last step in my process was a UV light, that lit up bright blue. I loved this step. It felt like a nice warm sun, shining on my face. This helped to maximize my glow and seal off the areas that were cleaned pretty heavily. Overall I was in and out in 35 minutes and the process was not scary at all.
The staff at Love to Live always have all of the answers to any questions, and they are so caring. You can also book a virtual consultation on their website if you can’t make it to their Del Mar location. Just from a 20 minute Skype call Ashley can help you choose the right makeup, skin care routine and products for your individual skin. They also offer other services so take a longer look on their site if you’re ready to learn more about your skin and how you can help it! They say after the age of 20 your skin produces 1% less collagen in the skin each year. So I have consciously decided to take better care of my skin and gain the knowledge I need to choose the best products and treatments for my face. I hope it’s not too late! Better late than never!
