“I believe that if life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade… And try to find somebody whose life has given them vodka, and have a party.” -Ron White
New Years Eve
Wondering what to do for New Years Eve in the gorgeous city of San Diego? Well you and your chosen celebratory mates have the pick of the litter! (San Diego actually ranks 4th in the poll for the best city for New Years Eve, check it out here!) Whether you want a low key and intimate night of divine food and bubbly drinks or you want to dance the night away at an epic party – San Diego has it all going down in just a few more “sleeps”! Even for young families who want something that’s appropriate and enjoyable for the kiddos, San Diego has that as well.
Luxury Yachts
For those with a more nautical heart you may choose to sail the night away aboard a luxury yacht. Enjoy lavish foods, flowing drinks & live entertainment. A popular choice would be the California Spirit Yacht which will be hosting the 4th annual Moonlight New Years Eve Cruise which runs from 9pm-1am with promotional ticket prices starting at $165. Night Clubs
If you want to keep your feet on solid ground, yet dance your little heart out as you ring in 2016, head down to one of San Diego’s hip night clubs in the Gaslamp Quarter or grab some tickets to one of the Hotel Parties. One of the “hottest” hotel parties is the 4th Annual Black & White New Years Party with Donald Glaude at the Renaissance (Formerly W San Diego). The event runs from 9pm-1:30pm with discounted tickets starting at $125 for premium open bar. After tomorrow tickets go up to $159. Other options are the NYE Party at The Hard Rock Hotel, or Mega Countdown San Diego at Fuse Night Club, both with remaining tickets that are around $60-$110.
New Years Eve
Pub Crawl
Not wanting to spend the whole night in one place? Then grab some friends and join the San Diego New Year’s Eve Pub Crawl which will take you through some of the best bars in the Gaslamp Quarter and you’ll score on awesome drink discounts. Check-in is from 6pm-10pm and you and your group will receive a map of the bars and times they are expecting you. Group rates start at $120 for 4 people.
New Years Eve
Driving Services
As an added bonus for those of you heading out drinking and partying please note that the local San Diego Bus & Trolley services will be offering extended services until 2:30am, making it much easier for everyone to make their way home safe and sound. You can also download the Uber or Lyft app (just like a taxi) and get a ride! Uber, Lyft and taxis might be pretty busy that night, and Uber typically charges 2-3x the rate on New Year’s Eve, so be prepared for higher prices and longer waits. It’s always better to have your own dedicated driver, such as Rancho Santa Fe Livery, or Torrey Pines Transportation, if you can afford it.
Intimate Dining
Looking for an indoor intimate evening with the one you love? There are countless restaurants that set the mood and serve tantalizing dishes on this special night. Locations like 1500 OCEAN at the Hotel Del Coronado, and Acqua California Bistro are featuring special holiday menus and are open late into the night to accommodate New Years Eve guests.
Beach BBQ
Does all the partying sound too intense? Then head over to Mission Bay with your family and friends to have your toes in the sand and the sound of water in your ears as you enjoy the last day of 2015. Hosting your own beach party is always a good idea as you can enjoy a low key vibe while you BBQ, listen to music and chat while winding down the year. Another great perk of being by the bay is you will get to see all the fireworks that are set off by locals throughout the night and especially as the clock strikes 12.
Kid Friendly
Last but not least, for those young families or those spending time with young kids who want to get out of the house but keep things age appropriate, there are lots of local museums & attractions that you can enjoy into the midnight hour (or wrap up before bedtime.) LegoLand has an awesome night planned with kid friendly bands, a ball drop at 6pm and a wicked firework show. It’s also convienient to stay there at their own hotel so the kids can play and pass out all in one place! Another great option for kids is the New Year’s Eve Family Party at Living Coast Discovery Center in Chula Vista. The cost ranges from $10-14 dollars and the event includes a Hot Chocolate Bar with fresh bakes cookies and treats, a ball drop at 9pm, Wildlife animal encounters, a fun family souvenir photo, kid’s movie room with arts and crafts, teen room with games and a band, karaoke & a NYE party room for all ages to celebrate!
New Years Eve
Regardless of the choice you make, we wish you a very blessed 2016 and hope you and your loved ones enjoy ringing in the New Year! Please drink responsibly & have fun with those around you! 🙂
Happy New Year!
